about

Barro sublevado, composed by Juan María Solare, performing Cafe Tango Orchestra conducted by Judy Ruks.

The title alludes to a phrase of the tango La última curda (1956), with music by Aníbal Troilo and lyrics of Cátulo Castillo:

Tu lágrima de ron
me lleva
hasta el hondo bajo fondo
donde el barro se subleva.

Barro sublevado was conceived at the end of a dream in Bremen on 2 December 2010 and finished on 8 December, with precisions in Worpswede on 30 December.

Barro sublevado, which duration is around six minutes, is dedicated to Juliane Dehning.

Barro sublevado was finalist of the "Tango Music Award 2011", a project of the Cafe Tango Stuttgart (Germany). The concert took place on 24 September 2011 at the "Theater der Altstadt" (Stuttgart). The recording was made by uwarton tonstudio.

Until the participation at the "Tango Music Award 2011", the piece Barro sublevado was unpublished.

There are several versions of this piece, made after this one:
- ensemble of eleven instruments (this one),
- cello and piano.
- ensemble of eight instruments (for the Orquesta no Típica, Bremen)
- consort of seven Baroque instruments (for the students of Hille Perl at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen)
- quartet of clarinet, accordion, cello and piano (for the ensemble "Tango Catz!" in Denmark)

Art Cover: It is the graffito of an anonymous street artist. I (Juan María Solare) took this picture in Buenos Aires (Cabrera street) in May 2007. This picture was overpainted later so it doesn't exist any longer (what is a real pity).

"El barro purgará las almas ebrias de soledad y adolescentes de sol." (Hugo Miguel Rodas, 17 oct 2012)
