about

A Suite is originally a succession of dances. In this case, the usual dances of the European Baroque (such as Allemande or Courante) were generally avoided, and a dance and musical genre of Chile, the Cueca, could be integrated. The title of the last piece (Gigue post-antique) is a wink: an inverted allusion to the concept of Postmodernity - i.e. to that mindset which opposes itself critically to the scale of values of Modernity, particularly against compulsion towards innovation, and which for that refers to past styles (partially in an ironic way).

The degree of difficulty of this work has been intentionally kept low.

The Petite Suite Antique was originally composed for recorder; however, it can be played with any other melodic instrument, such as, for example, flute, oboe or violin. Transposing instruments (clarinet, trumpet, horn) can play directly from the same score.

***************************
